So, nothing new has been going on.
Besides some mouth sores the journey after the lest chemo treatment has went pretty well.
We are coming up on round 3 in just 2 days! Hoping and praying that her body, mind and soul take it as good as she did this last time.

Better The Second Time
After her second round of chemo last week, mom got her shot of Neulasta on Thursday.
So much better than the first time, which put her in bed for 8 days straight. She was lucky to get up and be able to get to the bathroom on her own.
She ached from the top of her hair (which she still had then) to the tips of her toes. Said she felt like it was the worst flu she had ever had times 10!
It was rough seeing her like that.
So sick.
But this time is much better. Not all the aches and pains, just a lot of nausea.
Her toenails did hurt the other night. You heard me right, her toenails.
She is getting up and going to the kitchen on her own and seems to be taking this round a whole lot better.
So glad!

Hand in Hand
What ever I can do, I will do.
What ever I can get, I will get.
What ever I can say, I will say.
What ever she needs, I will provide for her the best I can.
My mother and I hand in hand.

Not Neulasta!
Yeah, that's right.
It's time for that shot again.
My mother found out yesterday that due to getting such harsh chemo drugs that they will have to give her the Neulasta shot for her white blood cells after every chemo treatment.
The last shot put her in bed for 7 days and got her sent back to the hospital.
The 2-3 day prediction of being sick in bed that the doctors give is way off. :(
Hopefully this time it doesn't last that long and she can get back to herself quickly. According to her, it made her feel the worst that she has ever felt in her life. "I gave birth to you, a 10 pound baby, with no drugs and it didn't hurt as bad as this feels."
Praying for less pain and a quick comeback!

Round 2! Ding, Ding
October 24, round 2 of chemo. She got started earlier today. 30 minutes early , but early.
Nothing better to keep you entertained than your grand daughters MP3 player and strawberry ear buds. :)
We are going over to talk to the surgeon when we leave here. I guess they are going over their plan for the mastectomy.
I have the perfect shirt picked out for my mother after all of this is over with.
Yes they're fake! (my real ones tried to kill me)
You have to see the humor in this. Better to laugh then sit around crying. Mama has really had good spirits during all this. There has been many times that we got to laughing and making jokes about what's going on. It is a terrible situation but why make yourself miserable by sitting around and feeling sorry for yourself about it.

No hair, no worries
Hair loss is a part of the package when taking chemo. Even though you know it's coming it has to be hard. My mom expected it to happen after the 2nd round, according to the doctors.
Saturday October 20th, 4 days before round 2 of chemo, it started coming out.
By the handful.
In the bathroom, alone, pulling out clumps of hair and not feeling a thing. What does one do?
My mom says, "shave it off"!!
And so we did.
After a relaxing day spent with her friend, Sharon, sitting on the beach, window shopping in downtown Fernandina and having dinner, we got the clippers out!
And why not have fun with it while you're at it? Mama can rock a Mohawk!
The end result was a perfect bald head. I assured my mom that she looked beautiful as always and she was lucky she didn't have a lumpy head.
Hats, wigs, scarves or the baldness in all it's glory. Nothing will cover up the beauty that is my mother.
